There are many textbooks available for engineering students learning English, but it's difficult to find one with material specifically focused on my students' particular technical areas. And much of the material on the web seems to focus on grammar and vocabulary skills in general, rather than the kind of language features my students encounter in their technical reading and writing.
So I have been creating material for my engineering students to help them not only write English correctly, but to notice the specific features of "technical" texts to improve their reading skills and to help them organize and structure their own writing effectively. Much of the material I use is inspired by texts, video clips and pictures I find on the websites of various publications, as well as other sites on the internet.
I have started this blog so that I can share this material with other English teachers who are working with students in technical areas, and to give those teachers a place to contribute what they find useful.
